I have been playing the piano since I was 5, and I have played the violin in orchestra for about 6 years. I also have been doing voice for about 2 years. My first student was a child I began teaching at a shelter through an anonymous call. He now plays piano at school and has been adopted by a nice family. Two other children were then referred to me by a social worker I contacted in Miami. I taught them over zoom, and it was a great success. This is how my non-profit, Moving Music, began. I am so grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for music with children.
I am a strong believer that everyone should be able to have a life of music. That's why I became a teacher. Whether you're a just a beginner or an advanced student needing guidance, let's explore music together! It is my simple mission to give the universal language of music away, no matter what the financial situation is (home-life or lack thereof).
I offer both group and private lessons, separated by skill level, for many different instruments. If you're unsure about which level is appropriate for you, I also offer placement tests! I teach music to all ages; as long as you are eager to learn, I am willing to teach.
I had a lot of interest in growing this company once Covid-19 hit, so I hired two paid volunteers. Now, we are just looking for more students to teach. I have watched over 500 videos and read extensively on various teaching methods for music. I have also watched dozens of videos and have done extensive research on managing a virtual school. As of now, I am accredited in Arkansas and Florida. I have received one private grant for "music in our classrooms."
Moving Music has put nearly ten children and young adults on a different trajectory, and I expect many more lives will change through our program. Our "For All" workshops are meant to give every kid the chance to experience the joy of music.
Many acclaimed pediatric studies show that learning music can be one of the most beneficial things any child can do at all developing stages. We aim to make music exciting, and we most importantly want to make students' musical education journey fun.
From a young age, I realized how expensive lessons can be. I remember thinking that if my family had problems affording the lessons, how do lower-income kids learn? I quickly figured out that they don't even get the opportunity. I set out to get in touch with a shelter to hear their thoughts on offering music lessons free of charge. I had done a few projects in the past with this shelter, but it turned out that this one would have many obstacles and hiccups along the way.
We were founded in 2018 by musical student, composer and teacher Loulou Gluck, who shares a lifelong passion for music and teaching children. Having grown up in a musical household, Loulou quickly realized she had something unique to share with kids. She has set out to create the most impressive kids' music learning program of this modern day world we are living in!!
Loulou went to a high school many other kids at the shelter attended, and therefore, she wasn't allowed to see their faces in order to keep them anonymous. Due to the legality of not having face-to-face lessons, Loulou realized she had a big problem. She couldn't even see them play!
Due to the legality of not being able to do a face-to-face lesson, she realized she had a big problem. How could she teach without even seeing them play? She began using Zoom in a pre-pandemic era. Loulou Gluck found Zoom to be the key to her obstacle of not being able to see the kids she was teaching at the shelter since she could still hear them in the next room over. She could hear them, but at first not see them. It was difficult, but she found she could still offer a lot in terms of teaching by just listening and correcting them on a video chat where they could see her. Before long, most students chose to show their faces, and they have formed life long relationships all based off their love for music. Around the 10-month mark of Moving Music Classes, Covid-19 began to ravage the country. Oddly, based off our video calling foundation, we were set up to teach kids nationwide over our virtual platform.
